Change is a good thing; I've decided to try to brighten up each of my posts from now on by adding a picture that might be describing what I am feeling or what life has been like prior to the post.I will admit that I am someone that isn't too fond of big changes. When things work out, I wish that they stay the same way forever; when things don't work out, I kinda hope that the world will end because there is no end to the failures. Therefore, I am currently in the "fail" state where things don't seem to be working for me, and coupled with my laziness and inability to do my essay, have chosen to use this Homer picture to represent it. Just to elaborate a little more so you can relate better to it, it is the feeling of garbage. Feeling like garbage doesn't need to be elaborated upon because everyone knows what it's like, so that's my description about the picture - pretty awesomely described, eh? Another reason why I am trying to do this picture thing is because I, myself, need to go through some changes to become a person with a better work ethic; and all these big changes come from the little everyday things, so I will force myself to find a picture to put in the beginning of each post... Because it requires effort okay!
On the topic of change, it also brings me to talking about the 30 Hour Famine that is coming up. I am a strong believer in this event because, not only is it extremely attractive, it really allows us to have just the little taste of what it's like in poverty. Normally, when people ask me to sponsor them, I will do it without hesitation - if I have the money, that is. One of the biggest things I am thankful for is food, because everyone takes for granted the amount we have to consume. I wouldn't call myself a big eater, but a frequent eater; I eat very frequently, usually something every 15-20 minutes. I believe that everyone should sit down in their bed everynight and give thanks for their basic needs. Even if people are doing the famine just because their friends are doing it, I applaud them. Due to my metabolism, I could NEVER stand 30 hours of fasting. This is the reason why I don't do the fasting, but I will always be there to support you guys through the whole process.
However, one thing I think that we can work on is the activities we are doing during the fast. We have access to TVs, computers, games, etc., while others don't. So even though we're not eating, we have a lot of things that can keep us distracted from food. For anyone that actually takes this event seriously, I think it could be nice if you shut off all your electronics to go along with the fasting, because it is then that you will see just a little more than the "no food" policy. But in the end, we're in Canada and we are fortunate enough to have these things, so I am afraid to say that I will be joining in these activities as well.
For everyone that is fasting, I wish you guys the best of luck when it starts at 6:00am tomorrow; it will be a blast and I will do my best to laugh at you guys while I eat some delicious good eats. Just kidding.
