Just Say No

"It should be noted that Heatley has not rejected a trade to the Oilers and remains interested in joing them, but simply desires more time to ponder his future."

This has basically been the story over the last couple of days in Oilers' nation. If you've been following hockey, at all, within the last week or so, you'll know that Heatley has now become probably the most hated player in all of the NHL. For the second night, in a row, this Heatley soap opera with the "should I stay or should I go" business is driving everyone crazy.

The bright sides are that Heatley didn't actually say, "no, I don't want Edmonton"; and that this is great for the sport as it draws a ton of attention - even if it's very negative.

However, as sweet as it is, it's still very bitter to watch. I cannot begin to imagine what it is like being the Oilers' or Sens' management right now. Heatley has caused so much drama in this whole situation, it's actually surreal for me to be sitting here believing that all of this is happening. It's so evident that, even though he didn't actually say no, he doesn't really want to be here. I think that so many grey hairs could have been prevented, if Heatley simply said "no". As Bob McKenzie, on TSN, has already said, this will get very ugly in the next few days.

Also in the event of hockey, I'm kind of excited for this weekend, as ECBC will be hosting their hockey tournament. I haven't played hockey, of any sorts, for a while, so it should be pretty fun. However, I am not very fond of the small gym that we'll be playing in. I'm kind of the guy that needs space to make plays happen, so my timing will have to be much quicker.

Also in action: extremely excited for soccer camp next week! Working with kids by playing soccer: what more can I ask for? I will finally have a bit of a life coming up very shortly; and hopefully, I can blog about some other things, either tomorrow or Friday night.

Happy Canada day, by the way; I completely forgot about this because of all the hockey things.
