You Know What It Is

While I am totally high off of some stellar rap music right now, let me point out that I only blogged once in the month of May. I am sorry to those that follow me and my blog; because, instead of getting long and boring posts, you got next to no posts at all. ;) I must also note that this blog will be of the "hyper brand" because I am WAY too energized at 11:30pm.

But alas, here I am: a few days into June and nothing much has changed. I am still working, still truckin' along trying to earn up some of the deficit in the monetary kind. I have to say again that I hate working for the sake of money. It's really hard for me to find purpose or motivation to go to work. We already know what I think about gaining experience by working, so I'm not going to go down that road again.

Anyway, I am so glad that I've been able to play some soccer again. Last week, I hurt my shin because my touch is still rough and I hit the ball a little hard after the initial control, forcing me to chase it. I knew that the guy coming at me was going to hit me, but I went for it anyway. So I'm not sure which part of his leg hit my shin, but it didn't feel good. It took me about a minute to be able to stand up, only to have the ball smack the same spot moments later. I'm good now, so that doesn't really matter. Haha.

Also on the "stoked" list are things like summer camp, soccer camp, shopping, and Olympics. I should probably be excited for Vancouver too but that's pretty close to the time of going back to school, so I don't know how I feel about it.

Umm, yeah, that's about all I got. Haha! Sorry for such a lame post. I'm still really hyper and nothing good ever comes out of that.

May Flowers

Whoa, whoa, whoa! It's been nearly a month since my last post. To be honest, I have kind of wanted to blog over the last couple days, but I just didn't get to it before I went to bed.

Since the beginning of May, I have been blessed with a job, so over half of my weeks are usually spent working. I have to admit that I don't really like some of the work that they make me do. I don't mind a lot of the work, but when I get sent outside, I do it quite begrudgingly. I was fine with doing that outside stuff once in a while, like what they told me when I interviewed for the job, but it seems like I am outside more than I am inside now. And because I don't like dealing with conflict, I'll probably take way too long to address it. Oh, did I also mention I hate waking up early mornings? I also hate the closing shift. Haha. I'm so picky. Something like a 10am to 6pm shift would be pretty ideal for me.

Anyway, that's been my fun life throughout this past month. I am also beginning to get more involved at church again. I will be doing a Sunday school thing next week. Hopefully I actually prepare for that. I am treading in dangerous water because there have been quite a few times where I've gotten away with no preparation, but because there are some things I've learned in school that are still fresh, I can kind of just pull that out when the time called for it.

I also have to make a mention of a pretty proud "brother" moment that happened today. As the oldest child, I've had much of the spotlight for most of my life. And because my sister is, well, my sister, she gets a lot of attention too. During one of the songs during worship, my brother broke out in his solo, and I don't think I've ever felt more proud of him. I know it's a pretty eyebrow raising thing to be talking about my brother having the spotlight during a worship set, but that was something that I thought was really cool. It's unfortunate that, since he's the middle child, a lot of times he's played backseat to me in a lot of situations. That's why, I was so stoked to be the one that got to see him shine a little bit of what God's given him. My brother has worked for pretty much everything he has, when I get handed a lot of the things I have, so I am very proud to see how much he's grown in his musical ability (in this context).

I don't know that I have too much else to say because I have to work tomorrow, and I always dread working. I've made up my mind that the only reason I need to work is for the money so I can pay for school. I've also realized that no matter how much I work, I am not going to have enough money to pay. So I think getting student loans is inevitable. Sad day. If it's not in the church, I really don't like working. I think that's just how I'm wired. People are going to argue that I need more experience to be able to pastor. I kind of agree with that, now that I've thought more about it. I think the biggest thing is that I'm only 21. No one, no matter how many "jobs" they've worked, will really have THAT much experience to say that they're set to go into ministry. So I quite honestly think that the only real way I'll be able to gain experience is by working in the church and getting my nose dirty.

I've never been a "if I do this, then it will help that" type of person. I'm more of a "need to do this? well let's go do it" guy.

Enough of this schooling/working stuff. Put me on, coach!

Finished Second Year

Why, hello there!

I think that when I actually have things I want to do, or need to do, my need to blog pretty much flies out the window - not necessarily a bad thing either.

But anyway, since I'm not really doing anything for the rest of the night, I'll just recollect a few things.

Year two of my program is done. I feel not too bad about my exams, as in they are good enough. When I got to my last exam, it was unfortunate, but I just wanted to leave. So I kind of just derped it and left.

And so last Saturday, my kind parents came down to Calgary to help me move all my stuff back up to Edmonton. It was a great feeling to be sitting here having finished my second year at Ambrose. It was also crazy to speculate at how I'd be graduating this year if I was still in the UofA - assuming I stayed on a four year thing.

So I've been home for a week now, haven't really done much other than spending a lot of my time watching playoff hockey and playing a pretty awesome new game called Tales of Graces f. I was a big fan of Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube back in the day, so I thought I'd give this one a try; it hasn't disappointed so far.

With the summer being here, it usually also means job hunting. Again, I have to thank the people that I am surrounded with because I've put in almost literally no effort into looking for a job, and I've already had people helping me. So with that being said, I am going to go to Legends golf course on Tuesday morning for an interview. I've never really thought about working at a golf course, especially one out at Sherwood Park. However! I've always had the general impression that people that hang out regularly at golf courses are pretty high class; so I have to admit that it'd be pretty stinkin' awesome if I got the chance to meet some upper class people. Not to mention if I got the chance to see some pretty sweet vehicles, etc., I'd be hella stoked.

One step at a time, I guess. I haven't even had the interview yet, so it is not guaranteed that I'll even work there. So yeah, that's about where I stand right now. I'm pretty excited for summer camp and soccer camp that's happening in July. I'm also excited for my mom to be turning 50 because it's a pretty big deal, to me, when someone hits half a century.

Coolio!

Three In Three

I'm not sure why I decided to upgrade my blog thing to this new layout; but because I did, I'm really confused to where everything is and how it all works now. I guess I get to have some fun trying to figure out how things work again.

I am so glad that in three days, I will be done another year of schooling. I honestly don't know how many years of school I have left in me. So doing one more year, then doing an 8 month internship might be good for me. Basically, in two years I'll be done the minimum I need to have done in order to go into full time ministry. That is two years more than the original plan that I had way back when I said that I absolutely have to do four years of university right after high school and then come out to work full time. I guess what got in the way was the "God" factor, suddenly straightening my paths. Haha.

Anyways, three tests in three days - I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I am kind of jealous that a couple of my friends wrote two finals on the first day of finals and now they have a few days to chill before they write their last one. Now that you ask me, I think I would like to have done that instead of the take-a-few-days-off-then-write-all-finals-concecutively thing that I got.

For whatever reason, even though I have three finals, I really don't feel like there should be three. My first final is tomorrow: foundations of church ministry. I think this one is good to have a final, albeit not entirely necessary, so that we can test if we know our basic church stuff.

Then there is Greek that is the middle child. It is unfortunate because I wish Greek was either first or last so I could focus entirely on it. I didn't do so well on my 2nd Greek test this term, so it pulled my mark down a little bit. So with it being in between the Tuesday and Thursday finals, trying to study for it is a little strange.

And on Thursday morning, I write my hermeneutics final. This is the final that I'm a little confused about. Hermeneutics is all about exegesis of a passage, so I'm not sure how you can really have a final about that. I can understand if we had a major assignment to exegete a large passage or whatever, but what are we really going to be tested on? Techniques? I don't know, not sure.

Also, my practicum has officially come to a close now. Although it was pretty bumpy at times, I am so glad that it ended really well. The last month and a bit have been fantastic times at church and I am grateful that it has ended this way. I will part ways as a happy camper, and when I come back in September, I am stoked to work without having that label as "practicum student" and just do what I normally do!

Grindin' time!
